Microsoft Live Search targets iPhone
Microsoft's Live Search team hasn't been ignoring the iPhone, despite Google's position as the default search provider for Apple's mobile device. In the MacRumors forums last week, the Live Search team was touting a new mobile version for the iPhone. But there's a catch: Rather than releasing an iPhone app, the Redmond company's search group has tuned its mobile site for the iPhone's Safari browser. The approach means that, even on the Live Search page on the iPhone, the first thing most users see is the Google search field in the browser frame. View Full Article: Todd Bishop's Microsoft Blog

Vertu Signature Dragon On Display
The Wynn is one of the more luxurious hotels along the Strip at Las Vegas, and it is no surprise to see the building host a whole bunch of high-end items such as exotic cars, designer wear and expensive phones for rich shoppers. The Vertu shop there is currently putting on display its latest luxury cell phone - the Vertu Signature Dragon. Just like the Vertu Signature Cobra, the Dragon has yet to be featured on the company's website to date. This looks like a pretty mean phone, and it would be cool if the dragon's eyes could glow in red whenever there is an incoming call. Oh yeah, don't expect it to breathe fire although it will definitely set your pockets burning a huge hole once you realize how ...

Google search share hits new high, as Microsoft matches its all-time low
Will this provide more fuel for Yahoo-Microsoft-search negotiations? New numbers from comScore Networks show Google rising to a record 63.5 percent of U.S. search queries in November, continuing to steadily build on its market dominance.. Microsoft's Live Search, meanwhile, slipped to 8.3 percent of the market -- matching the previous low the Redmond company saw in August of this year. View Full Article: Todd Bishop's Microsoft Blog

Mac beats all comers on reliability, support
For the second year running, Apple Inc.'s computers are the most reliable and its support the most dependable of all computer makers selling in the U.S., a national chain of computer service shops said today. Apple's Macs beat machines sold and supported by Panasonic Corp., Lenovo Group Ltd., Toshiba Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Co., according to Rescuecom Corp.'s third annual reliability report. Apple, which took the top spot last year, more than doubled its score from 2007 and again trounced the competition, this year posting a score 43% higher than next-best Panasonic. A recent holiday consumer study revealed that consumers may be changing their spending this season: Two out of three Americans admit they will consider spending less on family and friends this year than they did last year. University Tuition Could Include File Sharing License
Universities across the country are getting a glimpse at a plan to sell untrammeled access to music that could eventually be offered to the population at large. Warner Music Group representative and digital music luminary Jim Griffin is shopping the unlimited music plan to several high-profile American universities including Cornell, Columbia and the University of Chicago, according to TechDirt.
