Make "Add-ons" for Google Chrome Using Bookmarklets
Even though Google took their web browser Google Chrome out of beta last month, we can't help but feel like Chrome is still only half way to being a compete product at this point. Without RSS support, the ability to use add-ons, and gasp! no Mac version, Chrome still has a way to go before people give up Firefox for good and make a full switch... Android Running On Eee PC 1000H
Guess the Android platform is not limited to just T-Mobile's G1 and its ilk, but has been made to run on an Asus Eee PC 1000H, although that does beg the question of "why?". Two guys at VentureBeat found it a snap to get Android up and running on the Eee PC 1000H, even offering the support required for functional computing such as sound, graphics and even Wi-Fi connectivity. This isn't a first though, as a Google developer did manage to get Android running on an Eee PC 701 a few weeks back. Does this mean the age of more affordable MIDs is about to dawn on us that runs on Android? Interesting times are ahead this year for Android, that's as much as we can tell. HP Voodoo Firefly Gets Two Displays
Having multiple displays on a single notebook seems to be the next big thing (if it takes off anyways), and HP does not want to miss the party with its Voodoo Firefly that boasts a secondary display and a multitouch trackpad that is placed in a totally non-traditional space - we wonder whether people will take to this new design well or not though. The innards of the Firefly are pretty beefy as you won't find this to be a pushover by any means, and it ought to make its way to the showfloor next week at CES in Las Vegas. The secondary display comes with a decent 800 x 480 resolution, but that is a wee bit too small to display fine text IMHO. There is no word on ...

World Of Warcraft Theme On BlackBerry
World of Warcraft is huge in terms of player base and fans, and that bunch is pretty tech savvy as well. It makes perfect sense to see a new World of Warcraft Today theme being made available for the BlackBerry Curve, as fans of the MMORPG will now be able to get in-game graphics and icons on their communications devices, and they certainly don't need a reminder to tell them that it is time for that guild raid right after work. Well, we think this would be more of a distraction than anything else since it will keep the user thinking about what they are going to do in World of Warcraft instead of concentrating on the task at hand. Horde and Alliance themes ought to be concocted as well ...

iPhone 3G Unlock Now Official
At long last, the Dev-Team has just rolled out its much anticipated iPhone 3G unlock known as "yellowsn0w". It isn't exactly a polished product yet though, but there are already reports of successful unlocks appearing all over the Internet despite it being a 0.9 beta release at press time. For folks running the iPhone's latest v2.2 firmware, fret not - it works with that version as well, and will in fact require your precious iPhone 3G to be updated to v2.2 in the first place before it can be run. This is a minor detail to take care of especially when the Dev-Team did urge people not to upgrade to v2.2 in the first place. Ah well, it is the new year, so all ill feelings ought to be water ...

iPods Turned Into iPod Speakers
Now this is interesting - a pair of iPods (presumably non-functional, of course) that has been turned into iPod speakers. The original iPods' scroll wheels were removed as you can see above, being replaced by a pair of speakers instead. The entire DIY project cost around $100 (replacement front and back panels since the old ones had too many scratches to count plus shipping), although with a careful search done locally, the entire thing could have been completed for approximately $60. The speaker size stands at 2.25" and needed to be dremeled a little at the back in order to fit into the iPod properly. It would be nice to see if someone could make Zune speakers for the Zune... Frozen 30GB Zunes To Regain Back Life
Good news for those who are afraid that their 30GB Zune might have actually choked and died - Microsoft has owned up to their own blunder and here's what they have to say about the entire situation. There is a bug in the internal clock driver that causes the device to bite the dust on the last day of a leap year. But don’t worry, even though they won’t be releasing an update for the device any time soon, it should resolve itself when January 1, 2009 comes around. Well at least you don't have a brick lying around, right? Cue Apple fanboys who smugly tell you, "I told you to get an iPod, didn't I?" If you like Ubergizmo... Become a fan in Facebook

Fuji EnviroMAX Digital Alkaline Battery
Guess battery companies are finally waking up to the fact that disposables of yore aren't the way of the future, especially where the environment is concerned. Since that realization, rechargeable batteries have been released but those have not really caught on with the masses since disposable batteries are much more convenient, and you don't need to bother with charging them to maximum power once they're exhausted. Well, the Fuji EnviroMAX digital alkaline battery might not be rechargeable, but this is a disposable battery with a green conscience. After all, it does not contain any cadmium, mercury and PVC, and is packaged with recycled materials to minimize its carbon footprint. Not only that, Fuji claims the EnviroMAX digital alkaline battery is on par or exceeds most competitive alkaline batteries in its ...

Curse Of Silence Exploit On Nokia S60 Phones
There has been a serious vulnerability that has been discovered on Nokia S60 phones that actually blocks all incoming messages, be it SMS or MMS. This is touted to be a "Remote SMS/MMS Denial of Service" and has also been dubbed the Curse of Silence. This exploit can be carried out simply by sending a basic, carefully tweaked SMS to any S60-based Nokia handset, including S60 2.6, 2.8, 3.0 and 3.1 devices. There is no cure apart from a hard reset, so be warned! On the other hand, we wouldn't mind having this vulnerability exploited whenever we're in the cinema or library, at least we can watch movies and read in peace. If you like Ubergizmo... 30GB Microsoft Zunes Start Dropping Like Flies
Everybody seems to be pretty clueless at the moment concerning breaking news that 30GB Microsoft Zunes have malfunctioned and stubbornly refuse to boot up. It doesn't matter which country you're at - as long as you own a 30GB Zune, those people have discovered that their portable media player does nothing but freeze at the boot up screen. Guess this is another reason on why an iPod is better, but don't tell that to die hard Zune fans. Just when we thought that all this was supposed to happen at the turn of 2000, and hopefully Microsoft will come up with a solution of sorts to calm the growing, frenzied horde. Update 12/31: A Microsoft spokesperson has issued a statement. Take a look in the full post: If you like Ubergizmo... Become ...
